So you heard there's this guy named Jesus.

But... Who is He?

Why should you get to know Him?

Jesus Loves You!

You see, way back in the beginning (yeah, even way before your mom and dad were born), God created the heavens and the earth.  It says so in the Bible in Genesis 1:1.  He created everything in it: birds, trees, fish, water, space, animals, the sun, the moon, the stars, and even bugs!  Whew!  God was very busy!  He didn't create the cars and planes but He did create the people that make those things.  In fact, He created the very first man and woman to ever walk the Earth!  The Bible says:  "In the image of God He created them; male and female He created them." (Genesis 2:27)  Their names were Adam and Eve.

Adam and Eve got to spend a lot of time with God in His beautiful garden.  To keep them safe and protected, God had rules that were very important for them to follow.  One day, something very sad happened.  Adam and Eve sinned!  They disobeyed God and broke one of His rules!  Because of their sin, they were separated from God.  That was their punishment.  God was still there but Adam and Eve couldn't be close to God anymore and live with Him forever in heaven.  This made God very sad.

As years went by, God saw that His people kept breaking the rules more and more.  Sin is what separates us from God and keeps us from living forever with Him in heaven.  He doesn't want us to be separated from Him though.  He wants us to be close to Him because He loves us so much!  So God decided to do something about it.  He knew that His people could never live a sinless life no matter how hard they tried, so He sent His son Jesus to save us all.  That includes You and Me!  The Bible tells us in John 3:16:  "For God loved the world so much that He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life (in heaven!)."  It also says in the next verse:  "God sent His Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through Him."

Let's face it.  We all blow it sometimes!  We get mad at our little brother or sister.  We sometimes disobey our parents.  We fight.  Sometimes we don't tell the whole truth.  All those things keep us from being close to God.  We deserve punishment when we sin!  But Jesus came to take the punishment for us!  He lived a sinless life and was put to death on a cross, then He rose up into heaven so we could be saved and brought close to God again.   Because of what Jesus did for us, we can live in heaven with God someday.  This is God's gift to US!  Aren't you glad Jesus came to save the world?

It doesn't stop there though!  When we accept God's gift to us and ask Jesus to come into our hearts, our sins are forgiven by God and we become part of God's family!  Doesn't that sound good? If you think so, all you have to do is talk to God and ask Him to forgive you.  And He will!  He always hears us.  Once you've asked God to forgive you, something wonderful happens!  Not only are you forgiven and given the promise of life in heaven someday, but you will always have a friend in Jesus!  He won't take all your troubles away but He promises to always be with you where ever you go.

So if you're ready to accept Jesus into your life, all you have to do is ask.  You can pray something like this:

Dear Jesus,  I know I am a sinner.

Please forgive all of my sins.

Come live in my heart and be Lord of my life.

Thank you for loving me and forgiving me.

If you have said this prayer and asked Jesus into your heart, tell somebody the good news!

We would love to hear about it too and pray for you.  Let us know.
